Judo was created by Jigoro Kano in 1882 in Japan.
A visionary, he wanted to transform jiu-jitsu into something educational and modern.
He believed in “maximum efficiency, mutual welfare.”
Kano founded the Kodokan Dojo in Tokyo to teach Judo.
It began with just 9 students in a small room.
The dojo grew and became the center of Judo in the world.
Judo became an international sport — part of the Olympics since 1964.
Today, it’s practiced by millions across every continent.
It’s not just self-defense — it’s a way of life.
